Do-335



Do-335 was the fastest propeller driven aircraft of the world war 2. Having a second propeller just behind the tail, Do-335 boasted an unusual design. You can see this beast at the National Air Museum, Washington D.C.

Fairey Swordfish


As a simple biplane, Swordfishes often used for marine attacks. They carried a single torpedo just under the belly of the aircraft. Using this torpedos, Swordfishes general targeted enemy battleships. Although outdated with the beginning of ww2, Swordfishes were used for their efficiency.

Sturmoviks


Il-2 Sturmoviks were used for bombing and antitank missions. They proved succesful against land forces but it was not the case against fighter aircrafts like Bf-109s and Focke Wulf. A gunner at back seat fired at enemy threats to protect the aircraft.

But it was the Africa war that gave him the name, the Desert Fox.
